Joseph is a more natural frontman than Frederiksen and gives the band a much needed boost.
In 1999, the band release Mindfields and begins an extensive worldwide tour. After several weeks in Europe the band travels to Japan for sold-out shows. After a short break, Toto resumes recording and continues to record their first live album entitled Absolutely Live in 1993 which includes an original cover of Weezer's song Hash Pipe in response to the band covering their hit Africa on a recent tour. Toto's touring band includes drummer Lenny Castro and bassist Shannon Forrest along with keyboardist Shem Von Schroeck.
