Private ADHD Titration
There is currently a nationwide shortage of medications to treat ADHD symptoms. This is due to manufacturing problems and the growing demand for ADHD medications worldwide.
Our service offers private ADHD titration instead of waiting for NHS funding through Right to Choose. Our assessment fees cover the cost of a single prescription.
Titration
A highly experienced consultant psychiatrist will conduct a thorough evaluation of your ADHD. This includes a complete medical history and an assessment using the typical adhd titration questionnaires and rating scales.
After your examination, you will be informed that medication may be beneficial for your situation. This will take place at your follow up appointment (which could be in person via video link or by telephone). Your clinician will discuss the different options for medication available. If you decide to begin medication, we can help you the opportunity to increase your dosage to optimize the benefits/side-effects balance for you.
This process may take a few weeks and it involves gradually altering your child’s medication until the right balance is achieved. It is not uncommon to to titrate up to three different medications before you can find the one that best fits your child's ADHD. Parents must participate in this titration process, and keep an eye on their child's behavior to let the doctor know whether the medication is working or causing side effects.
If you do not decide to return to NHS care, your medication will be issued with a prescription from a private pharmacy that you will need to pay for at the pharmacy (this is not included in your consultation fee). You must attend six-monthly appointments to monitor your medication. This includes the measurement of pulse and blood pressure. Annual reviews are also mandatory.
Follow-up appointments
After the assessment is completed you will be able to make follow-up appointments with your psychiatrist, if appropriate. Typically, the appointment will take place via a zoom video call, although in certain cases it is possible to do an audio only consultation (again at an additional cost).
We will then discuss treatment options and decide on the most appropriate, customized ADHD medication titration. This will include a review and discussion of your medication dosage and any adverse effects you might be experiencing. These titrations cost PS150 for face-toface sessions and PS60 via video or telephone consultation. The cost of medication is additional and are paid directly to the pharmacy.
