They simply increase the force you exert by changing a small amount of effort over a large distance into a greater amount of force that is applied over a smaller distance. Lever/Pad

Lever pad handles, also referred to as upvc door handles feature levers on both sides to operate the multipoint locks. Lever pad handles are available in a variety of finishes & variations and can be installed on a wide range of materials, including UPVC doors, Aluminium doors & Timber Doors. They are sold in pairs for both the outside and the interior doors with screws and spindles included. They are available in hand- and non-handled versions to accommodate different types of users.

These can be used to replace the existing doors made of upvc. They are usually operated by lifting up the levers to throw out all of the multipoint locks and turning the key to close and unlock. They offer a little more security than standard lever door handles because locking can only be performed through the inside with a key.

They're not as secure as a cylinder bolt however they are a reasonable alternative to add security. The only downside is that they don't provide the same level of security as a cylinder lock, and they don't restrict access to the home when the door is left open.
