The Band Toto Asia

Toto was expanding production facilities overseas, and was doing business in France and Germany, Indonesia, Korea and Taiwan, Thailand and the People's Republic of China. North America was seen as an area of growth for bidet and washlet toilet seats, as opposed its "base" markets in Japan and China.

Dhaniram Toto was documenting Toto words to ensure the next generation would be able to read them. Many words were replaced by foreign ones. For example, dui, which is Bengali for verandah, was being used.

Origins

The company was founded in 1917 and its beginnings mirrored Japan's growth. The first Toto museum opened in the year 2015. It features exhibits on the most iconic products of Toto, their evolution, the group companies (all of which are made of ceramics) and the history of plumbing, and products such as bath units. Before forming Toto the band, members of the band did session work for various musicians. Keyboardist David Paich, drummer Jeff Porcaro and guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather all played on the album Silk Degrees by Boz Scaggs. They also played on records by Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, and Sonny and Cher.

Discography

With a name as evocative as Asia you'd expect the group to be prog queens and kings but they're actually a fairly straightforward rock group. The group started out as a quartet and recorded two albums: 1979's self titled debut, and 1980's Armed to the Teeth. The group has a diverse musical background, but their biggest success was in 1982 with Toto IV.

The album was a major blockbuster, however it did not come without its share of issues. Record companies placed the band on the position with the order "give us an album that is a success or we'll drop you" and the pressure was on to deliver. Luckily for Toto they delivered, with the help of the smash hit single "Africa."

Toto's musical mastery is due to their previous experience in the music industry, as the band members had been session musicians for artists such as Boz Scaggs, Steely Dan, and 안전놀이터 추천 Seals and Crofts prior to forming the group. Their distinctive sound has become the norm for '80s pop, and has influenced many contemporary artists.

This album starts off hard with songs like Running Out of Time and Unknown Soldier showcasing the bands ability to write fantastic AOR songs that slowly work their hooks into you. But the album also contains some slower, more jazzy tracks, like The Little Things and Chinatown. The album closes with Great Expectations. This song is a mix of folk and distorted AOR, which should seem like a complete blunder, but works extremely well.

After Toto IV, the band's fortunes changed towards the negative. David Hungate left to concentrate on his solo career and the band was through several drummers. In 1984, Bobby Kimball was fired from the group in the aftermath of drug-related charges. However, 토토 꽁머니 the group continued to perform as a trio featuring Michael Porcaro and Steve Lukather.

Toto released Isolation despite the turmoil. It wasn't as well-liked as IV. However, the group managed to release another chart-topping album in 1992 with Kingdom of Desire. This album marked the end of Toto's lineup and the debut of Simon Phillips, a new vocalist.

Line-up

The band's third album, Turn Back, marked the return to the traditional sextet arrangement of previous albums. It was a more powerful, consistent effort that had an edge that was more pronounced than Hydra. The more edgy sound of the album was indicative of the maturation of group and included drummer Bobby Kimball's increased ability on the drums and 안전놀이터 추천 an improved, mature vocal delivery from singer Joseph Williams. David Paich's work was more precise, sharper and less cloned previously recorded performances.

After touring to promote their album, the band recorded the band's Amsterdam live show that was released by Eagle Records as a 2-CD set titled Falling In Between. The group released a new studio album a few months later and embarked on a world tour to promote it. During this period keyboardist Greg Phillinganes replaced Paich and bassist David Hungate quit the group to spend time with his family.

In 1998, Paich and Lukather started looking through old demos and tapes in search of a new album featuring songs that were never recorded before. It was released in the form of a double-album called Then & Now in 2001. It was the band's first album that did not contain one single track titled "A". The album also contained a previously unreleased track called "Kari-Anne".

By 2003, Toto had begun to decline in popularity. The fourth album, Old Is New, was a commercial failure and singer Williams suffered from a bad laryngitis infection which limited his singing capabilities. In addition, Hungate returned to Nashville as a drummer, and Leland Sklar was replaced by Shem von Schroeck.

Downes, Wetton Palmer and Howe, the original members of Asia, met in England early in 2006 to discuss the possibility that the group could be reformed. The group, which was missing Howe who was busy with Yes during that period, was later renamed Toto XIV. They toured extensively.

In 2010, the band reunited for another reunion tour with a slightly different line-up, including guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather, drummer John Pierce, bassist Shannon Forrest, and multi-instrumentalists Warren Ham and Dominique Taplin. The group also had an appearance by singer Michael McDonald, and a backing singer named Mabvuto Carpenter.
