John bought the winning ticket from Duval Exxon on Third Street North in Jacksonville Beach.
The 46-year-old added: 'Our lottery win has been such a huge relief for us.
'We've been able to fully focus on being new parents by putting our financial worries at ease.
'We were able to start a college fund for our baby and plan on paying off student loans. We are over the moon with everything that's happened!'
The couple turned up with their family dog Maya to claim the prize at the Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee on June 11.
They chose the one-time payment option and received a total of $640,000.
The Jacksonville store received a bonus of $2,000 for selling the winning ticket.
