There is a national shortage of medication to treat ADHD symptoms. This is due both to manufacturing problems and an increased global demand.

Our service provides private ADHD titration instead of waiting for NHS funding via Right to Choose. Our assessments cost include the cost of one prescription.

A highly skilled consultant psychiatrist will conduct a thorough evaluation of your ADHD. This includes a complete medical history and an evaluation using the common ADHD questionnaires and rating scales.

After your examination, you will be informed that medication may be beneficial in your case. The discussion will take place at your follow-up appointment (which may be scheduled in person, via video link, or over the phone). Your clinician will discuss the different options for medication available. If you decide to start taking medication, we will offer you the opportunity to increase your dosage to maximize the benefits/side effects balance for you.

This process could take several weeks, and requires gradually altering your child’s medication until the right balance has been achieved. It is not uncommon to to adjust up to three different medicines until you discover the one that best fits your child's ADHD. It is important that parents participate in the titration process and keep an eye out for their child's behavior so they can let the doctors know whether the medication is helping or causing adverse reactions.

If you decide to return to NHS treatment you will receive an individual prescription for your medication. You will be required to pay at the pharmacy. This is not included in the consultation fee. You must attend six monthly appointments to monitor your medication, which includes blood pressure and pulse readings. Annual reviews are also required.

Follow-up appointments

After the assessment is completed, you will be able to book follow up appointments with your psychiatrist, if necessary. The appointment is typically conducted through a zoom video call. In some circumstances, it might be possible for an audio-only consultation to be conducted (again with an additional cost).

In this session, we'll discuss any treatment options we have and come up with a unique ADHD medication titration program. This will include a review and discussion of your medication dosage, as well as any side effects that you might be experiencing. The cost for these titration consultations is PS150 for face to face sessions and PS60 for online or phone video consultations. The pharmacy will charge you for any medication costs.

We recommend that if you are unsure of your preferences, talk to your GP prior to scheduling your private examination. Some providers have different policies regarding whether they require the submission of a GP letter. Make sure that your GP accepts a Shared Care Agreement, which means that you will be referred to them once you leave the clinic for prescriptions for medication.
