Following the historic events of the GE14 which noticed the first-ever change in the federal government of Malaysia and end of six many years of National Entrance (BN) rule, on 2 July 2018, Chong was sworn-in as Deputy Minister of Domestic Commerce and Client Affairs of Malaysia by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King of Malaysia). Chong moved to contest the Stampin parliamentary seat towards SUPP president Sim Kui Hian in the 14th Malaysian general election (GE14) on 9 Could 2018, which was seen as a 'gray' or unsafe seat following redelineation by the Election Commission (EC). Throughout his diplomatic profession, Wirajuda also assisted in the establishment of the Indonesian Nationwide Fee on Human Rights (Komnas HAM). Chong pursued his tertiary research on the Australian National University, Canberra and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in accounting & economics, Link daftar and Bachelor of Legal guidelines.
